It is with profound sadness that I report the passing of George Orloff. After evacuation from the Dixie Fire last year, George and Phyllis finally settled in an assisted living facility in Reno, to be near their son Stephen and daughter-in-law Janet. He passed peacefully on August 20, 2022. George and Phyllis were the glue that kept our sporting clay program running smoothly for so many years. He holds a special place in my memory as a mentor who urged me to get back to shotgun shooting after I moved to Lake Almanor full time in 2013. His passion for Sporting Clays was contagious and before long, a Remington 1100 shotgun was inbound and I have been hooked ever since. His pride in making the sporting clay course as challenging as possible, lives on as I choose from a stack of his course setups for each shoot. Phyllis is doing fine and hopes to possibly return to Lake Almanor for a visit. I will post any further information as it occurs.
